2. THE INTERAGENCY COUNCIL ON PREVENTING HOMELESSNESS.

While access to emergency and temporary shelter is an important part of the safety net for people in crisis, we know it neither prevents nor ends homelessness, and that many of those unsheltered are not eligible for current services or appropriate services are not locally available. What does end homelessness? Addressing social inequities of income, wealth, and opportunity, as well as failures of the social safety net, the systemic problems that cause it.

Ending homelessness in our community requires a shift in mindset, from prioritizing emergency responses to investing in developing and implementing long-term solutions. It requires the concentrated expertise and combined efforts of our local service providers, and engagement and investment of support and funding from our local community.

We’ve partnered with the City of Rome and Floyd County to support the Interagency Council on Preventing Homelessness and to ensure our community’s success. Find out more.
