United Way of Rome & Floyd County invests in community solutions to complex social challenges in two innovative ways:
WE FULLY-FUNDED SEVEN EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAMS.
Vetted and awarded by a committee of community volunteers, these seven investments prioritize collaboration and impact through measurable outcomes, while providing stability through a new two-year award period. Click each program and organization to learn more.
WE CREATED A HOMELESSNESS & HOUSING INITIATIVE.
While access to emergency and temporary shelter is an important part of the safety net for people in crisis, we know it neither prevents nor ends homelessness, and that many of those unsheltered are not eligible for current services or appropriate services are not locally available. We also know what does end homelessness: increasing access to affordable housing as well as preventive and supportive services that help those most at risk stabilize their lives.
Planning and implementing these housing-based solutions requires a shift in mindset, from prioritizing emergency responses to investing in developing and implementing long-term solutions. It requires the concentrated expertise and combined efforts of our local service providers, and engagement and investment of support and funding from our local community.
We’ve partnered with the City of Rome and Floyd County to support the Interagency Council on Poverty & Homelessness and to ensure our community’s success. Find out more.
