Objective:

Carry out the United Way goals of improving education, helping people achieve financial stability, and promoting healthy lives by collaboratively innovating and supporting community-minded solutions to systemic challenges no one organization can take on alone

Strategy:

To become the acknowledged expert in community-minded, collaborative solutions for achieving positive impact in areas identified as critical to Rome & Floyd County 

Action Plan:

  • Commit to and implement a single business model that drives impact AND increases revenue
  • Develop and leverage a plan to increase giving of high worth individuals (+$10,000 gifts)
  • Leverage the UW brand to deliver on the promise of quality, scale and efficiency
  • Implement online community resource information listing so the community will know how to gain access to agencies and programs
  • Host online nonprofit community events calendar inclusive of all nonprofits in Rome & Floyd County to improve planning, encourage collaborative promotion, and increase the success of our nonprofits’ efforts to gain recognition and programs support 
  • Transition from defining success as “Dollars Raised” to “Community Impact”
    • Redesign Agency funding policies with a focus on measurable impact for 2020-21 funding cycle
    • Fund strategic initiatives established by assessing community high-priority needs
    • Establish clear expectations and accountability for funded partners
    • Increase funded partner stability by providing multi-year grants and transparent RFP process
  • Increase volunteerism through creation of a community volunteer resource center and support Corporate Volunteer Time Off policies, Social Responsibility and Citizenship initiatives by designing and directing individualized engagement opportunities for corporate partners

Strategy For Education

Objective:

Identify priority needs in Education in Rome & Floyd County no one agency can take on alone and convene and connect services to provide collaborative solutions

Strategy:

Collaboratively develop a comprehensive plan to improve Education in Rome & Floyd County by providing funding and support to agencies/programs identified as key stakeholders of the Education Plan. 

Action Plan:
  • Meet with agencies to share the vision, gain commitment, and identify priority needs
  • Drive collaboration among agencies and leverage resources to develop a plan that addresses priority needs, both long and short term
    • Identify quantifiable targets for each agency
    • Fund agencies based on achievement of agreed upon targets
    • Support agencies that collaborate to achieve agreed upon goals
  • Ensure agencies/programs are adequately staffed with volunteers
    • Create community volunteer resource center to develop a robust community/volunteer action network

Strategy For Financial Stability

Objective:

Adequately prepare the citizens of Rome & Floyd County for the workforce

Strategy:

In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop a comprehensive plan to increase economic self-sufficiency by providing funding and support to agencies/programs providing workforce development and training from youth to adulthood

Action Plan:
  • Identify agencies that impact economic self-sufficiency by improving the likelihood of earning a livable wage
  • Collaborate with agencies to develop a plan that includes:
    • Job training
    • Soft skills training
      • Personal presentation
      • Interviewing and Communication Skills
      • Job Seekers Assistance
    • Continuing Education
      • GED Programs
      • ESL Classes
      • Literacy Programs
      • Financial Literacy
  • Ensure agencies/programs are adequately staffed with volunteers
    • Create community volunteer resource center to develop a robust community/volunteer action network
  • Fund agencies/programs focused on Financial Stability Plan objectives

Strategy For Health

Objective:

Identify priority needs in Health in Rome & Floyd County no one agency can take on alone and convene and connect services to provide collaborative solutions

Strategy:

In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop a comprehensive plan to support a healthier, safer community

Action Plan:
  • Partner with the Floyd County Health Department, Georgia Department of Public Health, and other key stakeholders in conducting a Community Health Assessment to identify Strategic Issues
  • Support collaboration among agencies and leverage resources to develop a plan that addresses priority needs, both long and short term
    • Identify quantifiable targets for each agency
    • Fund agencies based on achievement of agreed upon targets
    • Support agencies that collaborate to achieve agreed upon goals
  • Ensure agencies/programs are adequately staffed with volunteers
    • Create community volunteer resource center to develop a robust community/volunteer action network
